Its a DIY product so I expected the batteries case could be easily removable but it seems once the case is pushed it would be hard to open again. After years I might want to replace the batteries.

  yes, we think the same, lid design could have been better, it is still open able with mobile spudger tool
  , but quite a task.

Do you happen to have a power bank which takes rechargeable AA Lithium batteries which could be removed to used in remotes, like it could run with just remaining AA batteries. AA instead of 18650

  why not AA lithium cells for power bank?
  rechargeable AA batteries are 1.2V
  18650 are 3.6V
  3 times more capacity for the same mAh rating.
  imagine 9 AA cells for this same power bank
  cost? size?
  it is not economical.
